Eva Abarca obtained her DVM degree from the Veterinary College at the University of Zaragoza, Spain in 1997 followed by two years in the School of Veterinary Medicine in Alfort, Paris, France. After practicing general medicine for several years, she successfully completed an ACVO residency program with a Master’s degree and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 2012. From 2011 to 2013, she worked as an Ophthalmology Research Scholar in the Laboratory of Ocular Immunology, Toxicology, and Drug Delivery at North Carolina State University, NC, USA. From 2013 to 2016 Dr. Abarca was faculty member at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Auburn University, AL, USA, as an Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology. In 2016, Dr. Abarca moved back to Europe and joined the Ophthalmology Service at Vetsuisse Facultat, Bern University, Switzerland, where she works as a Senior Clinician in Ophthalmology. Her active interest in research includes ocular pharmacology and development of ex-vivo and teaching models.
