Petra Benz graduated in 2003 from Veterinary University of Vienna, Austria. Afterwards she performed her doctoral thesis entitled „Einsatz von Tepoxalin bei Uveitiden unterschiedlicher Genese und post OP nach Lidoperationen” while completing a small animal rotating internship between 2004 and 2005 at Vienna Veterinary University. From 2005 to 2008 she worked as an assistant at the Ophthalmology Department of Vienna Veterinary University, followed by a three-year residency program with Prof Dr Barbara Nell. Dr Benz successfully passed the ECVO exam in 2014. From 2012-2024 she worked in the ophthalmology unit of a private practice near Linz. Since the beginning of 2025 she has enjoyed practising in the ophthalmology unit of Kleintierzentrum Maxglan in Salzburg.
