Petr is currently working as clinician ophthalmologist at the Animal Eye Practice in Berlin, Germany. He graduated from the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno, Czech Republic in 2013. After a brief period in small animal practice in the Czech Republic and equine internship in Germany, he moved to Switzerland to pursue a career in veterinary ophthalmology. In 2019, he obtained a Swiss veterinary doctoral degree from the University of Zurich under the supervision of Prof. Simon Pot, focusing on advanced retinal imaging. In 2020, he successfully defended his thesis on comparative light-electron microscopy imaging in pharmaceutical research (ophthalmic pathology and toxicology), a collaborative project of Roche Innovation Center Basel under the supervision of Prof. Anja Kipar and Dr. Elke Atzpodien, and was awarded a PhD degree in Veterinary Pathology at the University of Liverpool. In 2019, he moved back to Germany to work at the Animal Eye Practice in Berlin where he undertook an ECVO residency training program under the supervision of Dr. Ingrid Allgoewer from 2020 to 2023. He successfully passed ECVO diploma exams in 2024. His particular clinical interest lies in medical and surgical cornea, ocular pathology as well as advanced ocular diagnostic imaging. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoors and sled dog sports.
