My name is Gwendolyna Romkes. After I grew up in the Netherlands, I took the chance to do my studies in other European countries. I graduated in veterinary medicine at the university of Gent in 2005. My rotating internhip I absolved at the university of Munich in 2006-2007 with a one-month externship at Dick White Referrals in Cambridgeshire. Now I have the great opportunity to do my ophthalmology residency at the university of Berlin from 2009-2012 with Prof. Dr. Corinna Eule as my supervisor. After my basic science course of three weeks in Raleigh in 2012, I was able to extend my stay in the U.S.A. with a valuable two weeks visit and the opportunity to learn from Prof. R. R. Dubielzig at the ocular pathology laboratory of the University of Wisconsin in Madison. In the three years between my further education I worked as a locum veterinarian in different private practices in the Netherlands. I like the ophthalmology for its diversity in cases and species and I enjoy working precise and handle delicate instruments and material. In my spare free-time I like to spend time with my friend, family and dog and go outside to ride bike, walk or go inline skating.
